Ex. Wally Schirra

Apollo-era Rare LEM "Cold Flow Test Site" Embroidered Patch, Originally from the Collection of Wally Schirra, in Framed Display. A framed display featuring an original 4" embroidered Apollo-era LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) "Cold Flow Test Site" patch accompanied by related correspondence presented to astronaut Captain Walter M. "Wally" Schirra, Jr. The typed letter signed (TLS), dated December 8, 1965, from Frank Jeans, Retired USN Electrical Technician, explains the design of the patch and its use among Grumman personnel working on the propulsion systems of the LEM. Jeans notes his wish for Schirra to wear the patch during his upcoming trip to Cape Kennedy. Also included is the original mailing envelope, addressed to Schirra at NASA's Cape Kennedy office. Both letter and envelope are attractively mounted above and below the patch, with a presentation plate at bottom reading: "From the estate of astronaut Captain Walter (Wally) Schirra." Framed to an overall 15.25" x 24.25". Very fine.
