Evelyn Underhill. The Column of Dust. London: Metheun & Co., 1909. First edition. Octavo. 194 x 137 mm. viii, 304 + 40 pages of publisher's catalogue, dated May 1909. Inscribed by the author to Marie Belloc Lowndes, "Marie Belloc Lowndes / with love from the writer / Evelyn Stuart Moore / September 1909." Publisher's blue cloth, spine stamped in gilt. Moderate edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed, scattered staining, some mottling to cloth, spine sunned, head and tail pushed with a few small tears, wear to joints. Text block edges toned, top edge trimmed and soiled, other edges untrimmed, somewhat shaken, hinges cracked, endpapers browned and foxed, bookseller notation to front free endleaf recto.
