Description

Union Forever Flag: Rare Small Flag, Probably from Lincoln's 1864 Reelection Campaign. We have never encountered this distinctive design before. The unique, ornate lettering was printed at the same time as the stars and "76", not hand-lettered or stenciled. This flag is a recent discovery, having been found together with the adjacent Lincoln campaign flag. Inasmuch as the "Union Forever" slogan was widely used during the 1864 election, it seems likely that the present flag is also a campaign item. Overall display condition is good; there is moderate fading, as is often found on flags of this era, and minor edge damage as shown. 5.0" x 3.625", nicely custom-framed to 10.5" x 9.25".
