Description

John Dickson Carr. Lot of five Carr mysteries, UK editions. London: Hamish Hamilton, 1931-1941. First UK editions, one a second printing. Publisher's cloth, all in original dust jackets, though The Burning Court has been heavily restored. Moderate edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed, some scuffing to boards, head and tail pushed. Text block edges toned, most foxed, with the top edge soiled. Intermittent foxing and thumbing throughout, mainly to margins. Dust jackets all clipped except The Man Who Could Not Shudder (though partially restored); heavy rubbing and loss, chipping and crinkling along edges, soiling all-over, color correction to spine of The Lost Gallows; scattered foxing, tape repairs to folds on verso. Very good books in fair to good dust jackets.
