Description
King George III Document Signed. One page, 8 7/8 x 14 5/8 inches, [London]; January 16, 1776. An order stating that "the sum of £603.16.5 is due unto John Durand Esqr Contractor for victualling the forces in the Ceded Islands..." Signed "George III" at the top left, less than six months before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. Countersigned by Prime Minister Frederick North and Charles Wolfran Cornwall.Condition: Lightly toned with smoothed folds and minor edgewear, including a few small chips at left edge. Pencil annotations at top and bottom margins. Docketing and remnants of previous mounting on verso.
