Description
Ulysses S. Grant: Anti-Klan and Anti-Free Trade Broadside. Fabulous 38" x 24" broadside printed by the "Am. Photo Lithographic Co." of New York, captioned "Republican Administration Brings Peace and Prosperity" and "Democratic Free Trade Policy Brings Ruin and Starvation". The broadside is populated with vignettes illustrating the contrast between the two parties. We see a vignette of "Mechanic City" on one side along with Ulysses Grant presenting an invoice for Alabama Claims to John Bull of England. The other side shows "Tammany City" and "Ku Klux Politicians" on the rampage. The best example of the genre as well as the earliest, circa 1872.Condition: Normal folds, else excellent.
