Description

Archibald Hamilton. Six Consecutive Issues of The Town and Country Magazine. Or, Universal Repository of Knowledge, Instruction, and Entertainment. A popular eighteenth-century publication particularly known for it's reporting on various scandals, affairs, and other secret meetings of the London elite. The Town and Country Magazine was considered a relatively upscale publication in comparison to similar competitors, focusing on aristocrats and their dalliances rather than brothels or the like. Though names were redacted, the writers often left enough detail (and a small portrait or two) to let readers figure out the subjects of the month's gossip.
