Description
The State Seal of Illinois, flown to the moon on Apollo 15.
Apollo 15 Lunar Module Flown Flag Signed by Al Worden. This 6" x 4" cloth flag picturing a bald eagle perched on a rock grasping a shield and holding a ribbon in its mouth with the words "State Sovereignty, National Union" (found on the State Seal of Illinois). The flag has been signed by Worden, "This seal was flown to the lunar surface on board the Command Module "Falcon" July 26 - August 7, 1971. Al Worden CMP Apollo 15". Accompanying the flag is a signed Certificate of Authenticity from Worden giving a complete history of this important scientific mission to the moon. While on the return trip to Earth, Worden performed the first ever deep space EVA, to recover film that had been exposed during the flight.Auction Info
