Description
Very Rare Large Format Albumen Photographic Portrait of Robert E. Lee, Circa 1867. Image size 11½" x 14¾", mount 13" x 16". This is the Boude and Miley portrait executed circa 1867. Although often seen in the carte de visite size, this image rarely surfaces in this large format. The negative clearly retouched to achieve the required definition after the enlargement process. This is the exact image pictured on page 169 in David J. Eicher's Robert E. Lee A Life Portrait, which is attributed to the National Archives and Records Administration. Fine condition, just one scratch at the lower center. Presented in what appears to be the original period heavy and elaborate gilt rococo frame. A few scattered chips but very good sound condition.
