Description

Snider Breech Loading Conversion of a P1853 Enfield Rifle to .577 Metallic Cartridge. This breech loading system was invented by American Jacob Snider, and some 870,000 weapons, in all configurations, were either converted or newly fabricated for use by British regular and Commonwealth troops. Lock markings 1862/Enfield and Crown over VR. All correct British proofs with additional breech markings indicating issuance to a Commonwealth nation. Mechanically perfect, mint bore. Wood excellent with nice stock maker's cartouche, generally untouched. Not a recent import and a very nice example of this historically important British military longarm.
