Description
Spencer Arms Company Pump Shotgun (Bannerman Model 1896). 12 gauge. Serial number 17344. 28" round Damascus barrel marked "SPENCER RPTG. SHOT GUN PAT.APL. 1882". The action has an overall gray finish and is marked on the left side "F. BANNERMAN MANUFACTURER NEW YORK U.S.A./ MODEL 1896". The pistol-grip stock and slide handle are walnut. This example shows honest use, is mechanically sound, and is in generally very good condition. Some historians consider Spencer's "Repeating Shot Gun" to be the first widely sold pump-action shotgun.Auction Info
