Description

Colt M1871/72 .44 Cal. RF Open Top Revolver # 4844 with Factory Letter. The gun has obviously seen heavy use, but completely honest and untouched. The factory letter states the gun was shipped March 15, 1875, to J. P. Moores Sons in New York in blue. All metal generally smooth and dark with a few small patches of light pitting and a number of dents on the cylinder. The wedge and backstrap are un-numbered, cylinder number illegible but unquestionably original, all other numbers match. The front trigger guard screw is probably a replacement and the ejector rod thumbpiece is missing. Mechanically fine, very good markings, good bore. Grips very heavily worn with a number of dents and dark patina. A restorable representative example of a scarce and desirable Colt.
