Description

US M1860 Naval Cutlass With Original Scabbard And Frog. Blade smooth and gray with no rust or nicks. There is one very small area of pitting on the reverse near the base and some scattered salt and peppering, overall generally smooth and gray. Markings on obverse "U. S. N. / D. R. / 1862" with the Ames logo scroll on the reverse. Guard excellent with just a few very small scattered dents. Marked on the quillon " 2 3 M / 831". Black leather grip excellent with just a few small chips, no wire wrap as is customary and correct for these swords. Hilt overall with nice light patina. Copper riveted scabbard exceptional with just some surface crackling to the finish and very sound with no hint of flaking. Black leather frog with some finish crackling and minimal flaking with a small, 1/4", tear at each side of the belt loop but very sound. Very fine example of this very desirable and attractive Civil War regulation sword.
