Description

Prussian Foot Guard Regiment of Foot Officers' Spiked Helmet. A beautiful, untouched example featuring a fiber body with gilt trim. A round spike base is mounted to the helmet via four star-head studs. The removable top is sadly absent but an original replacement could be easily source. A finely detailed, large eagle is mounted to the body with two treaded posts and securing nuts. No additional holes are present. A beautifully detailed guard star is mounted to the eagle's breast. Gilded, flat chin scales are secured to the helmet via two rosette bosses and both correct cockades are present. The inside of the helmet is marked in ink size 55. A standard officer's lining with leather sweatband and yellow silk lining completes this lovely example. Most of the gilding is either worn off or paginated, otherwise it is in excellent condition. This helmet requires minimal restoration to return it to its former glory. It is offered in a conical storage case which is lacking all securing straps.
