Description

Nathaniel Ellsworth "Zip" Wyatt, AKA Wild Charlie, Dick Yeager. An 1895 Oklahoma Territory affidavit charging that one "McKinstry" did "harbor, conceal, aid and assist Zip Wyatt to elude the deputy marshal and escape arrest." At least eight confirmed killings were attributed to this trigger-happy outlaw, with more suspected but unproven. During a robbery Wyatt shot and killed the store's proprietor in front of his wife and children, murdered a county treasurer, killed a railroad station master during a robbery, and shot Sheriff Andrew Balfour when the lawman tried to serve an arrest warrant on him. After a months-long crime spree he was caught and killed on August 3, 1895 by a posse. The document is 8.25" x 13.5", in excellent condition, and is dated just six weeks before Wyatt's death.
