More Information:

Born in Havana, Cuba, Juan Dominguez (1784-?) joined the Mexican army in 1813 and retired in 1828 as a colonel. The following year the Mexican state of Coahuila and Texas named him empresario of a colonization contract. His grant was bound in part by the Arkansas River. Dominguez appointed Victor Blanco, the vice governor of Coahuila and Texas, to execute the contract. Unfortunately, Dominguez's venture was not success and the contract expired in 1835.
