American Half-Stock Plains Percussion Rifle by Joseph Golcher. .44 caliber, 23-inch heavy octagonal barrel with one-inch rebated muzzle, dovetailed Rocky Mountain blade type front sight and low-profile elevation rear sight. Engraved hammer and lock marked: Joseph Golcher. Barrel type nipple bolster. Set triggers. Pewter fore-end cap. Burl walnut stock with steel triggerguard and brass patchbox and crescent buttplate. Cheekrest with German silver star inlay. Wooden dowel for ramrod. Condition: Good as configured. Metal with grey-brown age patina and scattered light pitting. Some screws marred. Wrist with major period repair with brass wraparound re-enforcement, held in place by screws and aftermarket custom steel triggerguard added. Remainder of wood with minor wear and bruises. Action needs adjustment. Bore showing wear.
