Lot of U.S. Cavalry Items and Two Branding Irons. Comprising: 1) Late 19th Century U.S. Headstall. Brown leather with rectangular brass buckles. U.S. Eagle rosettes affixing brow band to headpiece. Brass plate at front of brow band stamped '"CUSTER." 2) U.S. Cavalry 1885 Pattern Carbine Sling. 60-inches long by 1 1/2-inches wide. Tip of belt stamped "ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL/62/D.C.L." Brass riveted scalloped tip and brass bar buckle. Steel swivel with clip marked "O.B.NORTH & CO./NEW HAVEN CT." 3) Single Civil War Era Cavalry Spur. Of brass construction. Consignor's old hand typed tag indicating a Gettysburg association. 4) Pair of Branding Irons. Each approximately 20-inches long of hand forged iron bar construction. Brands appear to be "IC" and "C." Note: Custer association unproven. Headstall dates to Spanish American War or WWI eras.Condition: 1) Very good. Leather soft but with some surface dryness. Age wear and patina to metal. Rosettes with light dents. 2) Very good. Leather soft and supple with very light crackling present. Clip fine with age wear and patina. 3) Fair to good. Mellow age patina to brass. Scattered dents. Significant losses to rowell. 4) Good. Age wear and patina.
