Description

Apollo 10 Flown American Flag Directly from the John W. Young Collection, with Letter of Certification. A 6.25" x 3.75" cloth U.S. flag that flew to the moon on the all-important Apollo 10 mission, the "dress rehearsal" for the upcoming Apollo 11 landing, with Tom Stafford, Gene Cernan, and John Young. One vertical fold, otherwise excellent.

Included with this lot is a Letter of Certification signed by Young's widow, Susy Young. It reads, in full: "I hereby certify that the small size American flag that accompanies this letter was flown to the Moon aboard the Apollo 10 mission May 18-26, 1969. It has been a part of the John W. Young collection since returning from the mission. The flag has a holographic tamper-proof label, #1745083, to ensure authenticity, that will display a residual honeycomb design without number if removed."
