Scarce Marlin Model 1881 Lever Action Short Rifle together with Authentication Letter. Serial no. 9539, .45-70 caliber, 24-inch octagonal barrel with German silver Rocky Mountain blade type front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Blued finish. Case-hardened hammer, frame, lever and buttplate. Varnished walnut stock and fore-end. Condition: Very good to fine. Retaining approximately 30-40% finish, primarily on barrel and magazine. Slight traces of case-hardening present, mixed with grey patina. Minor spots of pitting present. Buttplate with minor rust spotting. Wood with light wear and bruises. Action very good. Bright bore.
