Description

NASA M2-F3 Lifting Body: Two Flight Covers Signed by NASA Test Pilots. The M2-F3 was the third incarnation of the lifting body concept. The idea was to build a craft that could reenter the Earth's atmosphere much like a normal airplane. The M2-F3 was created with an additional third vertical fin, due to NASA pilots having problems with lateral controls of the M2-F2. The aircraft made 27 flights with only four pilots, two of which have signed covers offered here.
Bill Dana: A philatelic cover with large color Space Voyage cachet detailing the objectives of the flight. Cancelled at Edwards AFB on December 13, 1972. Signed in black ink: "Bill Dana". Excellent
Cecil Powell: A philatelic cover with large color Space Voyage cachet detailing the objectives of the flight. Cancelled at Edwards AFB on November 9, 1972. Signed in black ink: "Cecil Powell". Excellent.
