Description

Colt Single Action Revolver with Unique Serial Number. Serial no. 99999, .45 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with Hartford address. Blued and case-hardened finish. Three-line patent date. Jigged-bone grips. According to Colt author Keith Cochran, the numbering of Colt single action revolver cylinders was discontinued after this gun. Sold together with a copy of the factory letter confirming configuration, stocks not listed. Also sold together with a Colt factory black box with hinged top marked for a .45 Colt with 5 ½-inch barrel, finish not specified. Box contains literature and cleaning brush.
Shown as having been shipped to E.C. Meacham Arms Company St. Louis May 24, 1886. Condition: Good as configured. Metal showing a thin mottled gray-brown patina with scattered fine pitting throughout. Replacement firing pin. Grips a later addition. Bore is good with traces of fine pitting. Action does not lock in the safety positions and needs repair.
