Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) Commemorative Set of Signed "Spies in Space" Book and USAF MOL Flight Crew Patch and Crew Signed Photo, Directly from the Estate of Albert H. Crews. A remarkable commemorative grouping consisting of a copy of Courtney V. K. Homer's book Spies in Space: Reflections on National Reconnaissance and the Manned Orbiting Laboratory, signed by key MOL astronauts, including Bob Crippen, Karol 'Bo' Bobko, Al Crews, and James Abrahamson. Also signed by author Courtney Homer. The book is accompanied by an embroidered 4.5" U.S. Air Force Manned Orbiting Laboratory Flight Crew patch, as well as a10" x 8" B&W photo signed by the eight crew members selected for the program. The Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) was a Cold War reconnaissance platform developed by the U.S. Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) between 1963 and 1969. Its goal was to deploy two-person crews aboard a modified Gemini spacecraft mated to a cylindrical laboratory section, from which astronauts would conduct high-resolution photographic and electronic surveillance of Soviet territory. A rare commemorative set honoring America's classified military space station program. Some wear and creasing to photo, otherwise fine.
