Description

Excavated Confederate C.S. "Breckenridge" Pattern Oval Brass Belt Plate. The thin, die-struck oval brass belt plate issued to Kentucky and Tennessee troops. These oval plates with originally found at battle sites occupied by General Breckenridge's Kentucky Volunteers and have been discovered in Tennessee and Georgia. This example was recovered at Stone's River, Tennessee and was probably lost on December 31, 1862. For similar, see Mullinax, #127. Ex: Walter Collection. Sold with original letter of authenticity from authority Steve Mullinax. Condition: Fine as excavated, showing dents, age wear and dark patina. All loops on back are present and intact.
