Description
Possibly Confederate Used U.S. Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver. Serial no. 98198 [barrel, frame and butt]; 98198 [triggerguard], .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with single-line Hartford address. Colt's Patent on left side of frame. Brass triggerguard and gripstrap assembly. Walnut grips .According to the consignor, this gun was thought to be one used by Confederates early in the war but no provenance confirming that association.Condition: Fair for this type revolver. Metal cleaned and polished, showing a dark grey age patina with scattered marks and pitting overall. Wedge screw chipped. Brass with light patina. Grips with heavy wear and chips. Action needs work.
