Scott Carpenter Signed Color Photo of John Glenn Launch, with Added "Godspeed" Comments. An 8" x 10" silk finish photo on Kodak Professional paper of the launch of Friendship 7, signed in bold black felt tip: "'Godspeed John Glenn'/ Scott Carpenter/ Friendship 7 Backup/ 20 Feb., 1962". Carpenter was Glenn's backup pilot on this flight and would be the second U.S. astronaut to orbit the earth just three months later. Excellent.The utterance "Godspeed, John Glenn," articulated by astronaut Scott Carpenter, reverberates through the annals of space exploration history as a poignant moment of camaraderie and solemnity.
