Apollo 11: Michael Collins' Personal Apollo-Era Flight Suit by Flite Wear Originally from the Collection of NASA Physical Conditioning Supervisor Joe Garino, Jr., with His Signed Letter of Authenticity. A standard blue NASA flight suit, owned and worn by Michael Collins late in his NASA career. At the neck is the manufacturer's tag from "Flite Wear by Land Mfg. Co." of Wichita, Kansas (size 40 Short). An embroidered NASA "Meatball" vector patch is sewn on the right breast. A piece of Velcro is sewn on the left breast for attachment of a name tag (not included). Velcro adjustments at the waist with multiple zippers and pockets all over. This is an important piece of Space memorabilia. Quite clean, little wear, perfect for display as is.Included with this lot is a signed 2008-dated LOA from Garino. It reads, in full: "Michael Collins Worn Apollo XI Flight Suit. Blue NASA Flight suit worn by Michael Collins after his recovery from the Apollo XI mission. Contains the sewn in NASA patch but missing the velcro name tag. Manufacturer tag states 'Flite Wear,' by Land Mfg. Co. Wichita, Kansas. This Flight suit was obtained by me when I was asked to clean out Michael Collins NASA locker upon his retirement from NASA and I was told I could keep it by Gordon Cooper. I hereby certify that the item or items described above were obtained by me during my years of association with the American Space exploration program. [signed] Joe Garino Jr".
