Description

Ex. Dick Scobee

Space Shuttle Challenger (STS-41-C) Flown Scobee Family Portrait from the Personal Collection of Dick Scobee, with His Signed COA. A 6.5" x 4.5" (sight size) B&W photo of Dick with his parents and brother in an easel-style frame. This photo was flown aboard his first space mission in 1984. It would be two years later when, as Commander aboard the Challenger (STS-51-L) once again, his spacecraft exploded seconds after launch. An item that was important enough for him to take it into space. A poignant souvenir of a brave astronaut. Fine.

Included with this lot is a signed and notarized Certificate of Authenticity from Scobee dated May 22, 1984, certifying "that this picture was carried by me during the flight in my personal preference kit for entire Scobee family."
