Description

Alan Shepard's Apollo 14 Flown Magnifying Eyeglasses Presented to Crew Surgeon and Chief of Physiologic Training Dr. Charles Keith LaPinta, on Wooden Display Plaque. An incredibly unique flown relic from the third successful lunar landing mission. Measuring approximately 8" x 4.5", these magnification glasses were worn by the first American to travel to space upon his return in 1971 when he became the oldest man to walk on the Moon. They have been hung on a 6" x 8.5" wall hanging display with an affixed metal plate that states: "These Glasses Were Worn By/ Astronaut Alan B. Shepard/ On The Apollo Lunar Mission And/ Presented To C. K. LaPinta, M.D./ Following The Mission". Obtaining an item used by one of the most well-known astronauts in NASA's history is a rare opportunity for collectors. Acquired directly from the estate of Dr. LaPinta. Some surface scratching to wooden display, otherwise very fine.
