Description

Milton Caniff Signed "First Man On The Moon" Official MSC Stamp Club First Day Cover Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. A philatelic cover with a color cachet designed by Milton Caniff (Terry & the Pirates & Steve Canyon cartoonist) with a single 10¢ stamp bearing the dual Moon/ Washington D.C. First Day of Issue machine cancellation. It has been humorously signed in black felt tip: "Neil:/ Drawn from life-/ - but at a very long/ distance!/ Cordially, [his trademark signature in a box]/ Palm Springs, 7 March '79". An absolutely unique piece from a much-beloved cartoonist to the first man on the moon. Excellent. Sealed in a numbered archival holder, CAG 1003501-005. See adjacent lot for the identical cover signed by Armstrong, a perfect pair for display. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
