Description

Neil Armstrong and Paul Calle Signed Limited Edition Print, #239/1000, in Framed Display. A 17" x 25.5" (sight size) B&W lithographed sketch of Neil Armstrong as he suited up on July 16, 1969, for his rendezvous with history. It is matted and handsomely framed to an overall 22" x 30.5". Paul Calle was one of eight artists chosen by NASA in 1962 to document the U.S. space program and was the only artist present when the crew of Apollo 11 prepared for launch. His design was chosen for the "First Man on the Moon" postage stamp celebrating Armstrong's momentous first step. Armstrong and Calle both signed an edition of 1000 numbered prints in pencil on December 23, 1976, when it went on sale at the National Air and Space Museum to raise money for the Charles Lindbergh Memorial Fund. Excellent.
