Description

Ex. John Young

Gemini 10 Flown Flag of Indiana from the John W. Young Collection, with Letter of Certification. A silk 6" x 4.25" flag featuring a gold torch inside two rows of stars against a blue field that flew forty-three orbits around the Earth with crewmembers John Young and Michael Collins on Gemini 10 between July 18th and 21st, 1966. This is the only the fourth flown "Hoosier" flag that Heritage has ever offered. Excellent.

Included with this lot is a Letter of Certification signed by Young's widow, Susy Young. It reads, in full: "I hereby certify that the small size STATE OF INDIANA flag that accompanies this letter was flown aboard the Gemini 10 mission July 18-21, 1966. It has been a part of the John W. Young collection since returning from the mission. The flag has a holographic tamper-proof label attached, #1733203, to ensure authenticity, that will display a residual honeycomb design without number when removed."
