Gemini 10 Flown Flag of Texas from the John W. Young Collection,
with Letter of Certification. A silk 6" x 4.125" "Lone Star"
flag that flew forty-three orbits around the Earth with crewmembers
John Young and Michael Collins on Gemini 10 between July 18th and
21st, 1966. Texas, of course, is the home of the Johnson Space
Center, NASA's headquarters for manned spaceflight activities.
Excellent.Included with this lot is a Letter of Certification signed by Young's widow, Susy Young. It reads, in full: "I hereby certify that the small size STATE OF TEXAS flag that accompanies this letter was flown aboard the Gemini 10 mission July 18-21, 1966. It has been a part of the John W. Young collection since returning from the mission. The flag has a holographic tamper-proof label attached, #1733197, to ensure authenticity, that will display a residual honeycomb design without number when removed."
