Description
Apollo 8 Flown Heat Shield Segment in Acrylic Display, Directly from the Dr. Rocco Petrone Family Collection. A 1.25" x 1.75" charred cylindrical plug in a 3" diameter x 2.75" tall x 2.125: diameter acrylic cylinder with "APOLLO VIII/ DEC, 21-27, 1968 engraved on bottom. An excellent large example of flown material from a very desirable mission. Excellent.Rocco Petrone played a pivotal role in the success of NASA's Apollo 8 mission, primarily through his leadership in launch operations and his strategic decision-making capabilities.
