Description

Apollo 14 Flown and Crew-Signed Beta Cloth Mission Insignia Inscribed to Stan Jacobsen, Assistant Chief of the Manned Spacecraft Center Publications Branch. A 9" x 8" mission emblem that was flown on Apollo 14, the third manned moon landing. It is signed in black inks around the emblem: "Alan Shepard", "Stuart A Roosa", and "Ed Mitchell". In an unknown hand (slightly faded) is the following inscription above and below: "To Stan Jacobsen with best regards from Apollo 14. This patch was flown on the Apollo 14 lunar mission. This patch travelled 1,151,086 miles during the 216 hours of space flight." Jacobsen's department was involved in designing mission insignias and materials. This is the first crew-signed flown Beta from the mission that Heritage has ever offered. Tape stains at left and bottom edges would mat out. Very fine. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke.
