Description

"An Event I'm Sure You Won't Soon Forget"

Apollo 13 Flown Engraved Spoon Directly from the Personal Collection of Fred Haise, with Signed Letter of Authenticity. A 6.75" long tablespoon that flew on the perilous flight of Apollo 13. Engraved on the handle is a NASA logo and "Fred W. Haise/ LM-7 LMP." It has been adhered to an 8.5" x 3" wooden base with attached metal plate that states: "To Mother In Remembrance/ Of An Event I'm Sure You Won't Soon/ Forget- Flown To Moon On Apollo 13/ April 11-17, 1970." Space food during the Apollo program was a key area of development that combined nutritional science, food technology, and practical considerations of eating in microgravity. While LMP Haise did not make his intended lunar landing, he did return safely and gifted the spoon to his mother to commemorate the flight. Some adhesive residue from mounting to base, very fine.
