One of 100 presented to Neil Armstrong, a Superb Gem Uncirculated example
Apollo 11: Manned Flight Awareness Medal MS68 NGC, Directly from
The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. The MFA
program was instituted at NASA after Gemini as a method to instill
a strong sense of quality and flight safety in its employees and
those of its contractors by various motivational methods and
awards. This 32mm medal with the text "The Eagle Has Landed/ July
20, 1969" on the obverse above and below an astronaut and the U.S.
flag on the lunar surface was part of that emphasis and was minted
with flown metal from both the Columbia and the
Eagle, as stated on the reverse. Superb Gem Uncirculated.
Sealed in a numbered archival holder, CAG 1000808-021. This lot
will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's
sons, Rick and Mark.
