Description

Patron saint of all travelers

Apollo 12 Flown Silver Pope Paul VI St. Christopher Charm, from Alan Bean's Personal Collection, with Certificate of Authenticity. A 0.5" diameter silver charm with the bust of the Pope facing right with "PAVLVS VI PONTIFEX MAXIMVS" around on the obverse. The reverse depicts the legend of Christopher, a third century martyr, carrying a small child across a raging river. The child was revealed to be Christ, which is why this figure is the patron saint of travelers. A very appropriate charm to carry on a flight to the moon. Hallmarked ".800" fine silver. Jump ring attached. Alan Bean would actually have an audience with Pope Paul VI in 1971. Included with this lot is a reprint of a color photo picturing the two together. Light wear. From the estate of Moonwalker and Artist Alan Bean.
