Description

Apollo 12 Lunar Module Flown Sterling Silver Angel in Prayer Charm, from Alan Bean's Personal Collection, with Copy of His Handwritten Letter of Authenticity. A 0.25" x 0.75" x 0.375" charm of an angel in an attitude of prayer. This flew in the Apollo 12 Lunar Module Intrepid to the surface of the moon where it stayed for thirty-one hours. Hallmarked "Sterling" on the bottom. A great religious symbol as well as a rare Space relic. Jump ring attached. Excellent. From the estate of Moonwalker and Artist Alan Bean.

Included in this lot is a copy of Bean's handwritten and signed Letter of Authenticity on his personal letterhead (the original has been lost). It reads, in full: "I hereby certify that the accompanying silver angel charm travelled with me in our command module 'Yankee Clipper' to the moon on the Apollo 12 mission. I transferred the angel to our lunar module 'Intrepid' for the descent to the Ocean of Storms. The little angel remained in the lunar module until Pete Conrad and I lifted off the moon some 33 hours later, rendezvoused with Dick Gordon orbiting above, and returned to planet earth. The angel charm has been in my collection since that time "
