Description

Apollo 12 Lunar Module Flown Crown with Crosses Tie Tack, from Alan Bean's Personal Collection, with His Original Handwritten Letter of Authenticity. A 0.5" x 0.375" crown topped with crosses (silver in color) around the top made as a tie tack with a clutch back and chain that landed on the moon in the Apollo 12 Lunar Module Intrepid where it stayed for thirty-one hours. A very handsome piece of jewelry / Space relic with religious connotations. Excellent. From the estate of Moonwalker and Artist Alan Bean.

Included in this lot is Alan Bean's handwritten and signed Letter of Authenticity on his personal letterhead. It reads, in full: "I hereby certify that the accompanying silver crown tie tack travelled to the moon with me in our command module "Yankee Clipper" in the Apollo 12 mission. Once in lunar orbit I transferred the silver crown to the lunar module "Intrepid" for the descent to the Ocean of Storms. The crown remained in Intrepid for 33 hours until Pete Conrad and I lifted off to rendezvous with Dick Gordon orbiting some 60 miles above. This silver crown tie tack has been in my collection since I returned to Earth."
