Description
Apollo 7 Flown American Flag on a Crew-Signed Presentation Certificate to Ed Rocky of NASA's Public Relations Department. This 6" x 3.875" cloth U.S. flag flew on this eleven-day mission, October 11-22, 1968, the first three-man crew in U.S. space history. The success of this mission, after the tragic Apollo 1 launch pad fire, was encouraging to NASA and led to the launch of Apollo 8 to the moon just two months later. The flag is mounted to a 10" x 12" certificate bearing a color photo of the Saturn IB launch, signed in various inks: "To Ed Rocky, Thanks for your support on Apollo VII, Walt Cunningham", "Donn Eisele", and "Wally Schirra". In our experience, these presentations signed by the entire crew are extremely rare. Glue bleedthrough on the flag's corners as is often seen. Very fine.
