Description

NACA Test Pilot: Take-Off and Landing Checklist for the Goodyear FG-1 Corsair, Circa mid-1950s, Directly from The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. Neil Armstrong flew over 200 different types of aircraft during his storied career. From his combat Navy service during the Korean War, his subsequent Naval reserve duty and certainly during his days with the NACA, Neil Armstrong was in a unique position to have access to a number of military aircraft to hone his flying skills. The checklist is printed on the recto and verso of a 5" x 3" card and has been laminated. It lists the aircraft's operating specs, take-off, landing and emergency procedures. The card is marked with the document number ML-4465-3. Light toning and handling wear, very good overall. Sealed in a numbered archival folder, CAG 1002103-001. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

Brief History of the Goodyear FG-1 Corsair: The iconic gull-wing Corsair was a carrier-based fighter used extensively in WWII and Korea. Originally produced by Chance Vought, contracts were let to Goodyear to help meet demand. It is considered by many to be one of the finest fighters of WWII.
