Description

Civil War Model 1858 Infantry Enlisted Man's Forage Cap Exterior body is in very good condition showing a few repairs on the back one on the front and some scattered minor mothing. Original chin strap is pliable showing minor crazing, held fast with two matching federal eagle buttons. Leather visor just shows a few storage marks. Top exhibits an original infantry hat badge. Interior is missing the sweatband and body lining, brown cotton crown lining is intact and displays the original contract label which reads "Size No 7 1/8 U.S. Army L.J. & J. Phillips". Interior 2" burlap sides are intact.
