Description

George Washington: A Fine Battersea Curtain Tieback or Drawer Pull, Circa 1780s - 1790s. Manufactured in Battersea, England, these enameled brass items were often decorated with American subjects for the export market. This example features an excellent likeness of Washington in military uniform, with his name on a streamer above. Condition is beautiful, with just a couple of pinpoint surface blemishes noted for accuracy. The image is very strong and unfaded, and there are none of the fine cracks often found in these enameled surfaces. Diameter 2". From the Edward C. Gillette Collection.
