Description
Abraham Lincoln: Ultra Ornate Ferrotype Badge. 1 3/8" gilt copper shell badge with stickpin attachment. The central portion has a ferrotype portrait of "A. Lincoln" set within a raised five-pointed star. This, in turn, is set-off against a raised paisley design punctuated with vertical black stripes. We have seen similar badges for Lincoln that consist of the five-pointed star only. This is the only one we have seen that is circular in shape... a star within-a-circle. It is highly unusual and quite striking. The ferrotype has some fine crazing, but is clean and bold.Auction Info
