Alexander Von Humboldt Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages, 7.5" x 9.25", Berlin; October 12, 1828. Untranslated letter in German from Humboldt thanking the recipient for a recent public address made by the recipient. Signed, "AV Humboldt." One of the most influential scientists of the nineteenth century, Alexander von Humboldt made a number of breakthroughs in the field of geology and earth sciences. Humboldt correctly theorized that the continents had shifted through plate tectonics, and charted what is now known as the Humboldt Current in the Pacific Ocean.

Condition: Creased along folds. Paper loss at the right margin, affecting text. Separations at the creases at all four margins. Staining and foxing to recto and verso.
