Description
Ronald Reagan Typed Letter Signed. One page on personalized letterhead with original transmittal cover, 6.25" x 8.5" (sight), no place; January 10, 1990. Letter addressed to Lydia Hupfer, "Hup." Reagan writes, "I'm so sorry you were disappointed by not hearing from us during the Christmas holidays. Nancy and I decided to go back to our private citizen days and not send out Christmas cards since we do keep in touch with most of our friends throughout the year. It's certainly not because you weren't in our thoughts, so please don't feel slighted. Having gone from a staff of 1400 to 14 in the last year, we have had to cut back on a lot of things we would have loved to continue." Signed, "Dutch." Matted and framed with a typed transcription of Hupfer's original letter to an overall size of 18" x 14". Accompanied by PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.Hupfer was the widow of Peter MacArthur, a radio station program director in Davenport, Iowa, who hired Reagan as an announcer in the 1930s. Reagan credited MacArthur for giving him his first big break right out of college and remained in touch with his family long after MacArthur's death.
Condition: Creased along the center fold. The envelope has a minor smudge to the left center. Not examined outside of the frame. The corners and right side of the frame are scuffed.
