Description

Ravensbrueck Concentration Camp Autograph Letter. One page, 5.25" x 7.75", Ravensbrueck, Germany; November 28, 1943. A poignant letter from an inmate named Roman Kask, identified as prisoner number 63654, who was likely housed in the adjacent men's wing. Written in German on official camp stationery, listing rules of the camp in German. The letter translates in part: "...I feel healthy and lively. I have received your package...thank you very much for everything. The best things to send me are bread and lard...I send you all the warmest and best wishes of the Lord. I am always with you in my heart..." Addressed on verso to Praga, located near Warsaw, Poland.

Condition: Flattened fold. Light toning and soiling throughout. Half-inch hole at center with closed tears. Small tear and paper loss at the lower edge. Adhesive residue at the top edge. Minor ink smudging in places.
