Description

Confederate Secretary of War Leroy P. Walker Letter Signed. "L. P. Walker." One page of a bifolium, 8" x 10", Montgomery; May 23, 1861. Walker writes to John J. Pettus, Governor of Mississippi, transmitting a copy of a dispatch from General Bragg (not present) discharging a soldier. Pettus had requested that "a young Private in Captain Gibbs Company" be discharged. Docketed on the verso: "L. P. Walker in relation to Wm. P Furr."

Condition: Age toning, with flattened folds and creasing. There are four mounting tabs on the blank integral page. Verso has darker, uneven toning and with soiling and a few stray stains.
