Description

William McKinley: Pair of Terrific Buttons. This lot includes: (1) A 1¼" celluloid jugate of McKinley & Roosevelt against a gold background inscribed "Protection and Prosperity" in choice condition (with National Badge & Novelty Company of Cleveland backpaper); together with (2) A 1½" McKinley and John C. Frémont jugate, worn by a voter who cast ballots for both men, first in 1856, then in 1900. It is in excellent condition. The backpaper describes it as "The Old Guard Souvenir" designed by Dr. J. H. Rerick of LaGrange, Indiana. It even has a space for the voter to fill in his name which, in this case, he failed to do.
